Co-written by J. L. Glasthal and Nico Raimont, FRIJOLES VIEJOS is a three-actor buddy-comedy about Frank and Jorge, two old buffoons who make a killing as mercenaries. With each new day comes a new mission and a new way to mess it up. Frank and Jorge face off against drug lords, alien invaders and even HR (all played by one actor, named The Rogue's Gallery) — all through a humorous and satirical lens.
The show is a 90 minute slapstick comedy that explores the lives of two regular-degular old folks who you see everyday at the chess tables in Central Park and never give a second thought -- but they've lived a full life, a full ridiculous life.
The show is structured in five vignettes or episodes: each builds on the story, jokes and character growth (or character decline) of the two men.
Ultimately, Frijoles Viejos is about trusting your chosen family to bring out the best version of yourself, even if the best version of yourself is a terrible person.
